I have not taken it apart but it appears to me that it was done on the inside cover of an old school geography book

And a very loving relationship captured here, I'd say. Looks like a view to the coop in the background, and a couple of nice diagonals framing him and the bird too. Sweet and tender. 5 1 8" x 3 1 16". Clipped corners as evident, and some toning as evident.
