I believe hard to know if the younger women here are the wives of the wounded, or their nurses or perhaps both. The child shadowed in the doorway with hand laid on the skirt of the older woman appears rather sickly, so I do wonder if perhaps a facility for individuals with polio? Whatever the case, a striking and moving image I think, with this cast of characters feeling
