Edna Mohler's Maple Leaf, 1910 Crayon Drawing ornate wooden box I'd think mid 20th century

I'd think mid 20th century or so though am not entirely certain

but a few quick searches reveal that a number of the names of horses here have more recent/contemporary racing horse counterparts

plus great color combos and terrific rough surfaces

One small loose drawing held inside pages

Not a lot of whole lot of carving went into this one

Edna Mohler's Maple Leaf, 1910 Crayon Drawing ornate wooden box I'd think mid 20th centuryA very October feeling sort of a maple leaf in this radiant yellow, with just a bit of orange too, and I really love the manner of those handwritten "L"s, echoing the line of the leaf of the stem, and evoking the gesture of a feaf fluttering to the ground. A bit of a transcendent one I think. (And long live the land of the Maple Leaf!) 9 1 4" x 6", crayon on paper with ink lettering. Good condition, bright and strong color, with some toning to upper
